Coach Perez was a four-year varsity high school player, attending Pasco from 2013-2015 where she excelled academically and athletically.

She was valedictorian and was a two-time All-Conference player, a two-time player in the annual All-Star game, a top scorer in the conference and was voted team captain and team MVP both years at Pasco.

She had many offers to play at the collegiate level, but decided to stay close to home. She attended Columbia Basin College (CBC) and was a 4.0 student and earned her Associate of Arts degree. On the court, she was a team captain; was in the top 10 in three different statistical categories in the NWAC; was an NWAC All-Star; was voted NWAC Female Athlete of the Year, and was on the NWAC Academic Excellence team.

After CBC, she had offers to continue to play, but decided to finish school and begin her coaching career. She received her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from WSU Tri-Cities and started coaching at Tri-Cities Prep. She served as a volunteer assistant her first year, before becoming the head assistant coach for five years. Coach Perez helped guide the Jaguars to four consecutive league titles, three consecutive district titles, as well as four consecutive state appearances, capped with a state title in 2018-19 with a 28-1 record.
