Recap
Despite leading 39-36 at the half and 59-53 at the end of three, Kamiakin was unable to overcome a late run by Davis and fell to the Pirates in a non-conference game in Yakima.
Nikole Thomas led the Braves with 16 points and was 55% from the floor while point guard Leanna Lepe poured in 14 points and was 62.5% from the floor. Camia Howard notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds.
Davis was awarded 38 shots from the free throw line and connected on 28. Kamiakin — which was charged with 25 fouls compared to Davis’ 15 — was 12-for-18 from the charity stripe.
The Braves tried to send the game to overtime as Thomas attempted a half-court shot at the buzzer and was fouled hard and injured. One official awarded three free-throw shots, however that was overturned by another official on the court who ruled the shot and foul occurred after the buzzer had begun to sound.
