Kamiakin boys, girls win at home

Boys

KAMIAKIN 60, CHIAWANA 54

Kamiakin was able to edge Chiawana in MCC play behind 26 points and eight rebounds from Peter Dress.

The Riverhawks featured a balanced attack led by Mason Castillo with 16 points. Donavin Young finished with 14 points and Tyson Landoni chipped in 13 points.

PROSSER 76, HERMISTON 60

Grant Olsen led Hermiston with 21 points as the Bulldogs were 83% from the free throw line and hit six 3-point shots, but in the end came up short in a non-conference matchup with Prosser.

Girls

KAMIAKIN 78, CHIAWANA 65

Chiawana’s Malia Ruud led all scorers with 26 points, but it wasn’t enough as the visiting Riverhawks fell to Kamiakin on Tuesday night.

Nikole Thomas fueled Kamiakin with 23 points (15 in the first half) while Maddy Rendall chipped in 16 points, including three 3-pointers. Thomas broke the 900-point mark for her career while Coach Lane Schumacher earned his 175th MCC victory.

NORTH CENTRAL 49, SOUTHRIDGE 31

Southridge struggled offensively with just four players tallying points as the Suns fell to North Central in a non-conference matchup.

Madison Brooks led the Suns with nine points while Aryn Sloot added eight. Southridge was playing without leading scorer Jadyn Holdren who has been out ill.

PROSSER 69, HERMISTON 63

Izzy Simmons tallied 16 points and Alexah Moreno finished with 11 but Hermiston came up short to the Mustangs in a non-conference contest.
